Rescue teams are searching for more than 900 people reported missing after a glacial collapse triggered catastrophic flooding and mud near Nepal's border with China. The death toll is nearing 400 people.

In Connecticut, members of the Nepalese community are grieving and working to help people affected by the disaster. Lincoln Everest of the Nepalese Association of Connecticut said he has not been able to reach his family, while Geljen Nuru Sherpa said his family is safe.

Sherpa says the Newtown community has raised more than $5,000 to help people impacted in Nepal, with plans for the money to be distributed directly to those in need.
