For my first of two features this week, I bring you the new album from Polish artist Spopielony, whose previous album, OCCULT I featured on the channel when it was released in 2020. With just one single track released in September last year, it has been too long since a full length trip into the hypnagogic realms of this artist and his return has been worth the wait in the liminal void in between.
Z Podziemi consists of 7 songs recorded live during a special gig in Warsaw in what he describes as ‘a long, cold winter night at YAMA Studio’. Created specifically for this event, these tracks are built from a very simple, minimalistic setup but convey all the hallucinatory atmosphere that characterized his studio releases, enhancing the cold and vanishing atmosphere, accentuated by moments of peace and silence.

DS Sunday intro banners for this month feature the work of French artist François Garas (1866-1925). A mysterious, and enigmatic architect involved in the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Garas created utopian, dreamlike compositions seeking to translate ideas, sensations and musical rhythms into architectural structures. His signature works are ‘Artists' Interiors’ and ‘Temples for Future Religions’, dedicated to the great composers Beethoven and Wagner, and themes of ‘Life’, ‘Death’, and ‘Thought’.
