Three-dimensional (3D) computational fluid dynamics modeling allows you to inspect and extract data at every computational cell within your model domain. This can be advantageous compared to physical modeling or field data collection where you may be limited to the extent of data you can collect. In this FLOW-3D HYDRO spillway video, a few examples of FLOW-3D POST's advanced post-processing capabilities are shown. You can create realistic renderings using the ray tracing options, create slices through your model domain to inspect fluid behavior at key locations, and view 3D surface contours of the fluid. In this example, the entrained air shown in the bottom right is modeled using FLOW-3D HYDRO's one-fluid volume of fluid air entrainment physics. This lets you simulate air entrainment without expending computational resources modeling the air phase above the water.
