Evening after evening, I watched a spider meticulously build a web in the same spot under my roof eave. It timed it perfectly to be done at sunset. This is a timelapse of the process- 48 minutes condensed into 3 minutes. It was fascinating to see nature in action and contemplate how a spider can know how to do use physics and engineering to build a complex yet elegant web. Finally, one morning, I noticed the web was sill there, with a hole in the middle, and bugs captured in it. The spider was gone- probably a meal for a bird.
