Can you balance or stand a broom upright on the equinox? That's a myth, not because it's wrong, but because it implies that that's the only time you can do it. While the answer is yes, the reality is you can stand a broom straight up and down on any day of the year. People only seem to try it on the vernal equinox or autumnal equinox because that's when they notice a posting about it on social media or on the Internet. Balancing a broom has nothing to do with the season, Earth alignment or tilt, astronomy, or meteorology! It's about patience, the type of broom, and what you are trying to balance it on. This little science experiment or demonstration shows that.
