Speedclaw, a raw heavy metal quartet from Rijeka, Croatia, formed in 2015, finally delivers their long-awaited debut full-length album, Stardust, released internationally on November 21, 2025, by Dying Victims Productions. After eight years since their last EP, Beast in the Mist (2017), and influenced by the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and classic 80s speed metal, the band raises the bar in terms of professionalism and power, while maintaining their raw and energetic essence – think melodic riffs that explode like dynamite, with an old-school, earthy feel reminiscent of Iron Maiden, Saxon, and the roots of traditional metal, but with a personal touch and without excessive crunch.
At just 33 minutes long, Stardust is an eight-track "stick of dynamite" that wastes no time: it's direct, captivating, and perfect for big stages. The album is semi-conceptual, divided into a cohesive narrative and independent tracks. The "Night Side" – comprised of four connected songs – tells a story inspired by the band's real-life touring, capturing the chaos, sleepless nights, and mistakes made by real people they know. The remaining tracks are standalone heavy rock and fast metal anthems, full of enthusiastic "woos!", flashy guitar solos, and a loose feel that makes you want to headbang immediately.
Recorded at GIS Studio in Croatia by renowned Croatian musician Matej Zec (of Let 3), and mixed and mastered by Olof Wikstrand (Enforcer), the sound is crystal clear enough to highlight the melodies and galloping riffs, yet raw enough to preserve Speedclaw's underground identity. Highlights include the video for "Allnighter" (with its festive and fast-paced vibe) and "Fly High" (an anthem of freedom with touches of speed metal), which are already circulating as singles and capture the essence of the album: metal that sounds like it was played in a smoky 80s bar, but with the fury of those who have survived a decade on the road.
