The Silent Ruins of Mars is the fifth studio album by the Italian band Ivory Moon, released on January 30, 2026 by Elevate Records. It's a significant milestone for the Rome-based group, celebrating over 20 years of career (since their 2002 demo) and arriving five years after their previous album, Lunar Gateway (2020).
The album delves deep into classic symphonic power metal, with strong roots in the melodic power metal of the 90s/2000s, but with modern touches and powerful production (recorded by Andrea Campisano, mixed and mastered by Christian Ice at Temple of Noise Studios).
It features 13 tracks totaling approximately 55 minutes, combining: striking dual vocals (female and male) — Loretta Venditti and Patrizio Izzo deliver emotive and powerful performances, with rich harmonies and epic choruses. Fast and melodic guitars, with virtuoso solos and captivating riffs. Grandiose keyboards that create cinematic and orchestral atmospheres. Fast-paced rhythm in several tracks, but also more atmospheric and emotional moments.
The conceptual theme revolves around space exploration, dreams, redemption, inner struggle, and a post-apocalyptic/futuristic setting on Mars—silent ruins, light in the darkness, takeoffs, new homes, outsmarting the devil… all wrapped in inspiring and epic lyrics.
The cover art (and all the artwork) was created by renowned illustrator Sergio Giardo (famous for the Nathan Never series), bringing a stunning sci-fi visual that perfectly matches the title and the desolate, yet hopeful, Martian atmosphere.
