Demos in slo-mo how to braid the 7-loop 17th Century loop braid that is the base braid of the 14-loop letterbraid. (One of the 3 known 17th c. methods for braiding letter-shapes and written inscriptions) Here, I am braiding with all loop transfers unreversed (straight/ open), which results in a divided, 2-layer braid. This will end up forming a loop at the top of the finished braid.
The 14-loop letterbraid is a doubled version of the braid of this video. This video tutorial is a supplement to my blog post: "Why Spanish?"

Note: At one point in the braid I stop and redo a move, and I say something like "oops that's how I usually do the move"--looking at the video later I realized that was NOT how I usually do the move! It was a minor glitch, please ignore it and just follow the way I corrected myself!

I learned this braid from the monograph on 17th Century Letter Braids by Joy Boutrup and Noemi Speiser. The full title is: European Loop Braiding: Investigations and Results--Part II Instructions for Letter Braids in 17th Century Manuscripts.
