To honor those who perished on September 11, 2001, SP 4449 was repainted in its American Freedom Train colors of 1975-1976 for an excursion from Portland to Bend, Oregon, and return in March of 2002. I rode a dome car on that trip which afforded me a great view of the train in action and of the magnificent scenery. This is part one of two and was shot on March 23.
