OK, the third installment of my Sony receiver collection with the great spectrum analyzer display.
This was another thrift store purchase a while ago. Suffers from overheating issues as there is a “canyon” of electronics that do not get proper circulation. These components can really cook if used in an enclosed cabinet.
And similar to the STR-D2010 from 1989, this unit needed some new capacitors that were bulging and needed solder reflowing in over 10 different places.
It’s working great as of now and is tonight’s showpiece to listen to.
Also has optical and coaxial digital inputs - very ahead of its time - again, it was not until the mid-2000’s that optical and coaxial digital inputs became a thing.
