I received the Sony A7s in for review and quickly after learning how to operate the camera, I went outside to test out what this camera is so well known for...shooting in low-light.

This is only a quick test for me to see what kind of ISOs I can realistically use with the Sony A7s when shooting at night. For comparison, I grabbed my Canon 60D and filmed the same scene at a high ISO.

The results are as expected. The A7s performs much better at higher ISOs than the 60D and more importantly, the A7s footage itself is very useable at a high ISO like 8000.

That is a significant increase in my ability to film in low-light. With the 60D, I prefer to stay under 800 ISO to get relatively clean video.

I also increased the footage by 100% in order to get an exaggerated view of the noise as well as test the resolution. I can realistically increase the A7s' video image to 130% and still maintain a nice looking image. This can be very helpful for reframing purposes or stabilization processes.

I'm not moving into mirrorless quite yet, this is just a demo unit that must be sent back (too pricey for me) but I can tell already that I'm going to miss the A7s when it's gone.

It's a nice compact, lightweight camera with incredible low-light features and a decent continuous auto-focus. There are of course plenty of things I don't like which I will get to in future videos.
