A walkthrough of how to defeat this boss without using the Insta-shield in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles" for the Genesis.
As you know, Carnival Night, Act 2 is very long. If you spend too much time in this level, you may end up not having enough time to defeat the boss. Two reasons why. #1, there are very little opportunities to hit the boss. #2, the boss is so high up that Sonic can't hit him without his Insta-shield technique. This can be a problem for Sonic if he is wearing a bubble shield or a fire shield (or a lightning shield if one does not want to use it). It can also be a problem if Sonic can't use the Insta-shield to avoid transforming (change into Super Sonic by pressing jump in midair with 50 rings or more). If one wants a challenge without getting hit and without using the Insta-shield within the time limit, one will have to be very wary of that. Here is how to do it.
After the boss drops the big green bolt, time his movement rhythm by hitting him between the green bolts. Then, after the boss does that lightning attack, hit him from above as he grabs the big green bolt. Repeat the process until he is defeated.
Doing this tactic without getting hit is difficult because the timing on hitting the boss between the green bolts is pretty strict. However, if you're low on time, this is the only way to do it without using the Insta-shield within the time limit.
It can be done in about 1 minute, 29 seconds. However, I suggest being at the boss area when the timer reaches 8 minutes. The reason why is because the possibililty of missing him on timing the hit between the green bolts is quite high, as I demonstrated in this video.
- If you're playing as 'Sonic and Tails' and you miss a hit during that cycle, it's not too big of a deal if you're low on time. Tails can sometimes be helpful during the battle.
- If you're playing as 'Sonic Alone' and you miss a hit during that cycle, you might be in trouble because you have to wait for the boss to do that lightning attack, grab the big green bolt, and drop it again for another chance to time the hit between the green bolts. It takes around 20 seconds, and that can be very bad if you're low on time.

A guide/walkthrough of all the silver coin challenges on Adventure Two mode using as little boosts as possible in Diddy Kong Racing for the Nintendo 64.
The challenge was to use as little boosts as possible. The only time they are used is when the silver coin is either too far out of the way or is placed by the Zipper. In this case, the Zipper in Jungle Falls is required to get both silver coins over the water. As for certain other silver coins placed by the Zippers, the green boost trick is used as a freebie.
NOTE: On Adventure Two mode, it is only possible to fully do the normal races and silver coin challenges consistently as either Krunch, Drumstick, or T.T. using as little boosts as possible. The AIs are almost as fast as they are on the trophy races (Ultimate AI), making it impossible for every other character to fully do them consistently using as little boosts as possible. On Adventure mode, it is possible to fully do the normal races and silver coin challenges consistently as every character. The AIs are as slow as Pipsy.

With Ultimate AI code (trophy race mode) turned on, it is only possible to fully do every race consistently as Drumstick using as little boosts as possible. T.T.s top speed with the plane is like Krunchs, which is not enough to gain distance from the AIs before they hit the Zipper in Hot Top Volcano and Windmill Plains on the 1st lap. This applies to Adventure mode and Adventure Two mode.
How the game works:
AIs cheat by using a power up whenever you do and whenever the AI in front does, as well as honking the horn. 60% of the time, there is always a chance you will be hit by a homing missile. If you get enough distance in 1st place, the AIs will stop hitting Zippers behind you, as well as driving into traps and not be effected off-screen, including them getting stopped by the bridge off-screen in Boulder Canyon.
I challenge you to do the normal races and silver coin challenges using as little boosts as possible.

EXTRA TUTORIAL: To do a handstand while hanging on the ledge, hold down the Walk button, then press Forward. To do a swan dive, hold down the Walk button, then press Jump immediately followed by Forward. To do a somersault dive during a swan dive, press the Roll button. To air-roll, do either a running jump, standing jump, or a backwards jump, then press the Roll button. To shimmy on the monkey bars, hold down the Walk button, then press Left or Right.
Changes & new features after Tomb Raider II:
- Lara no longer makes a grunt sound when she bunks or bangs against the wall (new engine).
- Graphics are significantly different (new engine).
- Sound effects on everything have been changed (new engine).
- Midair grab speed after doing a running jump along with a standing jump has been buffed.
- Side Step button has been reconfigured to being the Walk button.
- Crawl and crouch-climbing abilities are introduced.
- Monkey bars are introduced.
- Sprint and diving roll abilities are introduced.
- Swing animation has been changed, due to the monkey bars being introduced.
- Wading in water is still a thing, but it was changed a bit, mostly after being one tile lower (slanted).
- Uneven tiles are introduced.
- Poisonous hazards are introduced.
- Flares now last for 30 seconds, rather than 60 seconds.
- Medipack color is now green, rather than red (PlayStation version).
- Camera on Laras position has been shifted slightly to the left.
- The energy and breath meters still display the same from Tomb Raider II, but the colors are noticeably different, and they are shifted very slightly to the left (PlayStation version).")
