One of my trusty old Solartron 7060 Bench Multimeters suddenly stopped working. These meters are quite large for what they do, but also very accurate and usually pretty reliable.
Features like auto ranging and GPIB remote control were state of the art in 1980. It also has low pass filters and plenty of digits. Once on the shelf, the size does not really matter anymore, that's why i have 2 of them in use on pretty much anything which needs accuracy and/or precision.
I also like the timeless design (probably quite futuristic then) of Solartron gear of this era, it just never looks old ...
Apart from size, it can still compete with a lot of modern gear, not bad for 40 years of age.
The fault appeared to be a rather typical capacitor issue, but that was not all, so always worth looking twice before you call it repaired ....
