In this video, I want to start a test with the JK Inverter BMS and determine which model has the best and most accurate SOC calculation. It is a well-known problem with this BMS, that SOC calculation gets more and more inaccurate if the BMS is not reset to 100% frequently. Especially in winter when most of us don't manage to fully charge the battery for weeks or months, the state of charge shown by the JK BMS is often out of control.
So, here we have the new V19, its predecessor V15 and the first gen V14 of the JK inverter BMS all in one test. They compete against the Victron Smart Shunt as the 'point of truth'.
This is a long-term test for the next few weeks, where I want to charge and discharge the battery every day but never hit the 100% and actually reset the BMS. This will simulate a typical winter usage of a battery. What drift will we see in these models over this time and how do the individual SOC calculations compare to the Smart Shunt?
