In this video, I collect the star "The Piano Playing Thwomps" in 1.5 A Presses. It may be possible to get this down to 1 A Press, however it is unknown if it is possible to make it to the cannon with the wing cap by using frame walking alone. However, nothing is impossible.

The blue A in the corner shows that the A button is currently being held.

A vertical puzzle level. What shenanigans will we pull this time?

Being a strictly vertical level, 3-3 is a huge obstacle for the 2BC. Here, we see another trick with Thudley, Thudely Jumps, or TJs. Canceling Thudleys ground pound in the air allows 1 frame where Mario can flip midair, allowing Mario to jump midair. Chaining TJs allows for infinite height which is used here to skip certain puzzles in the tree. Other than abusing TJs, there isnt much in this level thats out of the ordinary.

Leeched A/B Press: A Press #3 of Forever Onward, Captain Toad!
The Super Mario Odyssey A/B Button Challenge (Low-Cappy) is where we go through the game while pressing A or B as few times as possible. The Low-Cappy addition also limits the number of times we can throw Cappy. Note that A/B Presses are prioritized, meaning we will throw Cappy 100 times to save 1 A/B Presses, but not press A/B 100 times to save one Cappy Throw.
Other Rules:
You must play single player only, with no assist mode. You also must play with the recommended control scheme. (Two vertical joycons)
Q: What is a C Throw
A: A C Throw is short for Cappy Throw. We count a Cappy Throw every time we throw Cappy at something or have to stay in the air for a Cap Jump.
Q: Why A/B Presses?
A: In Mario Odyssey, the jump button is assigned to both A and B, so we use the notation, A/B Presses to account for both buttons at once.
Q: Are there half a presses in this game xdxd
A: Yeah, like Mario 64, a half a press is when you hold A from a previous a press that has not been shown in the video. There are various uses for a half a press that will be demonstrated later.
Q: What does From: mean?
A: Because in Odyssey you dont leave the level when you collect a Power Moon, each video will start where the previous video ended (or the previous video in the route). To avoid confusion, I always put the starting location or moon in the description.")

Time for an annoying water lev- wait why are we back at 3-1?

3-2 marks the first underwater level. Unfortunately, this means I need to swim, a lot. Even with optimal swimming, getting around the level takes several 2 presses. This is where the return pipe becomes useful again. After getting Thudley, we return back to Flipside and replay 3-1 instead of backtracking up the long vertical shaft.
Speaking of Thudley, I now have access to a very useful jump replacement. Initiating a ground pound while on the ground brings Mario into the air completely 2less. This grounded Thudley jump doesnt go as high or far as a normal jump, but its still very useful for this challenge. With Thudley, we can go through 3-1 and the rest of 3-2 without needing to press 2 at all.

The craziest strats yet.

This video is an improvement from my last video on Chapter 1-4 where I completed the chapter in 21x 2 Presses. You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/4RmH6Qw8hFE
Since then, three discoveries were made. Firstly, I realized that I could clear the second room without pressing 2. I accomplish this by using two damage boosts, one from the fire bar in the center of the room and another by the spawned megabite. I didnt use this strategy before because I didnt have the health needed to damage boost. This was solved with a planned level up (shown during setup). Do note that we still need the Life Shroom which takes 1x 2 Press but that will be shown in the 2-3 video.
The second discovery was in the red block puzzle room. I experimented with both hitting a block with Thoreau and jumping at the same time, but I didnt have good results. This was because Mario was throwing Thoreau too high. I then realized that Thoreaus height is in relationship to Marios speed. But if Marios speed is too low, he wont be able to land on the block. To finally accomplish this feat, I use skidding to both lower Marios speed and keep his momentum to land on the block while hitting the adjacent block with Thoreau. This is done twice to save 2x 2 presses.
The last, and most insane, discovery was during the Fracktail fight. Here, I use a double midair bounce to skip the second and third jumps needed to complete the fight. There are three variables that I needed to account for when doing this double midair bounce: Marios X position, Marios Y position, and the frame Mario lands on Fracktails antenna. The X position needs to be higher than -480 and the Y position needs to be higher than 1320 to damage Fracktail. Also, Mario must be in this position AFTER Fracktails body is completely flat for the hit to count. To achieve all these conditions, I manipulate the Frackles in the perfect position for the first midair bounce. For the second midair bounce, I use the home menu to lower the 3D meter to perfectly time 3D damage to perform the second midair bounce.
The rest of the strategies involve clever enemy positions and damage boosts that dont need further explanation.
This video features a modified view (at 11:54) to help better visualize the Fracktail fight. This is a zoomed-out perspective to better show what Mario is doing and how high he bounces in relation to Fracktail. This modified view also edits out the home menus for a more fluid viewing experience.

This route is no longer used due to the pathing in 1-4 being different, which makes the setup to get the life shroom no longer applicable in the form present in the video.

Since then, a new way to skip Boomer in 2-1 was found. This method uses a Shell Shock rather than a Life Shroom. This opens the opportunity to use the Life Shroom we obtain in 1-4 somewhere else. Here, we use the Life Shroom to get to the ruby vault without needing Slim. That way, we can first, get the ruby vault, and then get the Slim instead of the opposite order. Doing things in this order allows us to only climb the first two floors of 2-3 once, saving 4x 2 presses. As a note, the Shell Shock method for Boomer Skip takes one additional 2 press over the Life Shroom method, so overall, this new route only saves 3x 2 presses.
Once again, this chapter is very short if you know the solution to the chapter. Here, we can skip the entirety of the chapter by pre-emptively knowing the password to the 1 million ruby vault. One thing to note is that we cannot just grind the ruby rooms for 1 million rubies to pay off the debt. This is because theres a cap of 18000 rubies for each run-through of the VIP room. Each time, we need to press 2 to initiate a run-through, which easily negates any 2 press saves by beating the chapter this way.
