pannenkoek2012 | SM64 - Go to Bowser in the Sky - 0x A Presses @pannenkoek2012 | Uploaded 9 years ago | Updated 2 minutes ago
I go to Bowser in the Sky using 0 A presses.
This video is an improvement from my previous video in which I did this in 1 A press. You can find that video here: http://youtu.be/HduNkG4v4wU. Since then, Tyler Kehne tested and developed a route to ascend the steps without pressing A, his video of which can be found here: youtube.com/watch?v=2T11QOGGrmE. The technique goes as follows:
For the first step, we can simply do a dive recover onto it. This step is shorter than all the rest, and so it's trivial.
For the second step, we use a glitchy wall grab. Basically, the two steps overlap, and so Mario tries to grab onto the first step, but ends up grabbing onto the second step instead.
For the third, fourth, and fifth step, we use a technique called the 207 dive recover. Essentially, the walls of the steps push Mario outwards, but these walls are misaligned at the corner. Therefore, Mario can do a dive recover into this misalignment, allowing him to get under the floor without being pushed away by the walls. The floor then clips Mario upwards onto it.
All credit for this route goes to Tyler, who tested it extensively to get it to work. Thanks, Tyler!
