Slurp Geyser (2024)
Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).
Slurp Geyser is a small, rarely-active member of the Sawmill Group in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. It was sporadically active in the 1990s and early 2000s. Activity was also reported in 2015 and 2016. It entered an active phase starting in December 2019 that continued into summer 2024 at least. Few eruption durations have been reported, but they range from about 16 to 45 minutes.
