RBM temporary flag 9x01. This starts the minecart escort. Normally, if you start the minecart escort that flag gets set to indicate it, and if you try to leave the escort then it gets unset when you get through the passageway. However by setting that flag with RBM we can both start the escort and walk around anywhere we want in the Gorge since we never go near where it would unset.
By BiTWarping and voiding-out in the same spot as in this video, you can skip the minecart escort by warping the cart directly to the last section.
This is not even the most interesting part though! This can be done as early as the first time you go to Lanayru. And doing the escort this way does set all the necessary flags to get the song (Lanayru Gorge layer 2).... except the Thunder Dragon is still not here. This is because the Thunder Dragon only appears after meeting Levias. However I am pretty sure this can still be done during your first trip, you will just need to come back later to get the song.
This skip has still some unfortunate downsides: first of all we haven't documented temporary flags very seriously, and so we don't know if that temporary flag exists on skyloft (which would be WAY better). Secondly we have to take the VERY long trip around the gorge with both the UA and LA BiTWarps because this game is dumb and going the other way seems to barely not work.
