With a little bit of circuit design, I was able to add one of the sexiest features from a Datron CNC to my skeletonized Shapeoko.

The BitRunner - youtube.com/watch?v=HPsC1NDrViU

Some videos I used to understand transistors and make a test circuit:
"Electronics - Using an NPN Transistor as a Switch": youtu.be/gEMBXxWKUS0
"Transistor circuit 1 NPN BJT 2N2222 switch for beginner DIY electronics hobbyists": youtu.be/IAyGYiBQExk

Once you get the basics down, you can usually figure out the implementation out on your own. Getting comfortable with the terminology and wiring these up was by biggest hurdle.
