This must take the cake for the greatest surprise of a completion I've ever had. I spent so much time playing this last year, having some good moments and getting good progress, just to get completely bricked by it for entire months to the point where I dropped the level and never really expected to finish it. It was mere days ago that I was still not playing this level, but then came a moment (much like Zodiac) that I decided to do a practice run just out of boredom, and before much time at all came this result.
Though this didn't turn out to be the first hardest I've pulled off after Zodiac, it was my gradual erosion of satisfaction from that as my hardest that led to me trying this out sometime early on last year. I figured from the start that it wasn't a smart idea, but it turned out fun for a little while. I would go on to get the level down to a handful of runs, but I eventually got tired of playing and didn't feel ready for it yet, so I put it aside for a few months. I would return to it during the summer, still struggling on it, but I eventually managed to break through some barriers I had and got increasingly larger runs, going from covering 30% of the level, to 40%, then half, and so on until I had two substantial runs happen back in October (67% + 17-100%). Unfortunately (again, much like Zodiac), I found myself completely stuck after that, despite continuing to play it somewhat actively for another month or two, and I couldn't stand it anymore by the end of it. Several times, I would try to get back into playing it, but eventually I accepted that it was most likely never happening. I hated playing most parts of the level, and playing from 0% is what especially broke me.
Fast forward to July 13th of this year- only two days ago. I still struggle to believe that any of this actually turned out this way, but it did. The decision to do a practice run out of boredom evolved into a 36-100% run the same sitting, and by the end of that day, I essentially had the level back down to two runs, so I knew it was a must for me to full send it again. Yesterday was even better, having pulled off a 10-100% run (almost immediately after a 16-99% nonetheless) as well as getting 60% from 0%. Then of course, today. A very fast warmup, ending with a 16-100% run, with this following as quickly as attempt 2. Never in my wildest dreams could I have seen any return to this ending up so well, not just with how quickly I finished it, or with how lucky I got, but I also just had a good time as well in these last few days, and I couldn't be happier to say that this is my best achievement now.
Of course, I still don't like the level itself much at all. I may or may not intend on posting a comment thread soon detailing my laundry list of issues I found with the level, because there's too much to mention with the limited space I have for this description, but I'll try to simplify it here. There's so many bugs and inconsistencies present in this level- many of which are avoidable, but some just inevitably show up at some of the worst possible moments and complicates the experience dramatically. I always hated the beginning of the level- not just for having many of the worst parts, but also for being way too hard and causing some horrific mindblocks throughout my experience. The level continues to play very chokepointy later on as well, which made trying to progress on it way more stressful than it needed to be, and the level in general runs too poorly for its own good. There's just one thing that I consistently enjoyed the whole time, however, which is the song. Even if the first parts aren't that interesting, it gets so good after the first third and just keeps getting better and better. I couldn't stand dying in the 40s as much as I did, but the adrenaline I would feel with the music playing alongside it never got old. It's one of my favorite songs I've found through this game, and though the level was very poorly executed, I sincerely hope that more levels of its ridiculous length make it onto Pointercrate with time.
Special thanks to everyone that supported me.
