Hi, this is Andy from Orbit Media. I want to share with you a really effective content promotion trick that I learned years ago and works extremely well.
If you're going to publish something that answers a question or something for which there are sort of multiple points of view, early in your process, drop a question into a social stream.
Just ask a related question on LinkedIn or whatever your social network of choice is, and then just see the interactions. Just see the responses. Just engage in a little conversation about it.
Then save the link to that conversation at the top of the draft and then go write the article. While you're writing it, you'll end up thinking of some of the input you got, and maybe reaching out to some of those commenters, and then maybe including them as some collaborators.
So, your article automatically got more interesting. It's got multiple points of view now. But also, when that thing goes live, you have people to mention and share it with and to notify that you've got a new piece.
The goal is to make sure that when something goes live, that there's a greater than zero number of people waiting to see it live. There are people who are involved in it. It was part of a conversation you already had.
Don't wait until your piece is live to begin the conversation. Prime the social pump by having a little conversation on social first. You're going to have a way easier time promoting it once that piece actually launches.
