It's a rather sad song
I had an idea to edit with this song for months but never put myself to make it real. Actually at first I had the idea only about Rapunzel (Quasimodo) part and didn't know how to edit the beginning until it came to me: Simba's canon story fits the lyrics greatly.
It's like in Africa animals could actually write letters in some way and cub Simba wrote a letter to his future self before the stumpede happened. Simba asked if he is a handsome lion now, is he still friends with Nala, is dad still so cool and they are the best team, is he still happy.
Years later adult Simba found – or remembered this letter – he and his past self had a conversation, a conversation heartbreaking for both of them.
Rapunzel (Quasimodo) part, in this AU Rapunzel is a reincarnation of Quasimodo and Quasimodo was killed by Frollo, never truly living the life he wanted.
In the new life he is Rapunzel, also a toxic abusive parent who isn't a real parent, Rapunzel is also being brainwashed about "going outside", always locked in her tower just like Quasimodo.
But she has a beautiful appearance, she can easily talk and when Rapunzel finally leaves her tower – in secret, like Quasimodo – she can talk, play and dance with other people, she can be liked, not feared and treated like a monster, it was the happiness Quasimodo always prayed about, something he never had.
In time things turned out very close to canon, Rapunzel survived, found her real parents, found love, she can go on and try to live the better life Quasimodo wished for.
Rapunzel travels and one day arrives to the town Quasimodo lived – it can be Paris like in canon, it can be a different city of you'd like. Rapunzel sees the cathedral she used to live in when she was Quasimodo. She can't remember but she feels something unexplained and bittersweet about this place, a deep connection to the things she thinks she sees for the first time.
Song: Akira Yamaoka feat. Melissa Williamson (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) – Letter – From The Lost Days (Silent Hill 3 Ost)
Footage: The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tangled
I own nothing
Hope you'll like it
