Hello and welcome to my review and deep dive into my 2022 game of the year Signalis. Signalis is a top down indie survival horror game put together by the 2 person dev team from Germany Rose Engine. Heavily inspired by the likes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil Signalis feels at once familiar and new. Set on a frozen mining colony we take control of Elster, a replica like something out of Blade Runner, as we search for the pilot of the ship we crashed landed in and try to uncover the mystery of why everyone here has turned into mindless monsters.
Drawing on great science fiction such as Blade Runner, The Thing, Aliens and various Lovecraft stories as well as great horror games this is one hell of a cocktail of tension, suspense, action and heartbreaking tragedy. So come and join me as we uncover the story and mechanics of this wonderful little indie game and try to figure out what’s good, what’s great and what could maybe have been done better.
