Welcome to The Legend Of Jack The Ripper. This is less of a review of the incredible Metal Gear games and more of a character study of the protagonist of two such games. We’ll be talking here today about Raiden. Raiden wasn’t all that well received when he first arrived in Metal Gear Solid 2 sons of Liberty. But just as a bad sequel can leave a sour taste in your mouth for a previous movie, a great follow up can change your perception of something for the better. Raiden transformed a lot through Metal Gear solid 4 Guns of the Patriots, and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. He became a unique and powerful character in his own right and one I really grew to like. As such returning to Metal Gear Solid 2 substance years after its release, it’s easy to look past Raiden’s faults and appreciate the game in a way that I didn’t back when it came out.
So let's dive into a sci-fi world of conspiracies, cyborgs, giant robots and super spies and find out what makes these games and this character so appealing.
