These issues are about public records and the right to know. In San Jose the city destroyed property related to the tools a man kept in his truck. In Gilroy the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley made a records request for Police Body Cams and the city destoyed the records while the lawsuit was pending.
In both cases, attorneys decided to fight in court rather than fix their mistakes and policies. Taxpayers pay either way.
