A comparison of how time flows in Shenmue and Shenmue II.
Many people never notice that it's actually different between the two games. I am guilty of not thinking about it until recently myself.
An hour takes 4 minutes in Shenmue while it takes 6 in Shenmue II.
In other words Shenmue's clocks run 1.5 times as fast as Shenmue II's.
Probably not the best video to watch in full screen with so much zoom to get the little watch up close. Note that this can't be done with the actual watch open as Shenmue II stops time when you look at it.

Rushing to the harbor down Wish Road at maximum speed. Remaining time is 26 seconds and on screen for 5 frames, giving a time of 1:34:166 wich was world record from June 2021 to May 2022.

This is as far as I was able to push it with my attempts. While working towards this I got 1:36:866, 1:35:966, 1:35:200, 1:35:066, 1:34:900, 1:34:800, 1:34:666 and after I set my PB I got 1:34:633 twice. All within the span of 2 days.
Like all my Shenmue I&II footage, this is recorded with Widescreen Mod and Audio Restauration Project active. These mods only affect aesthetics and give no advantage to the gameplay.")
