the games been out for two weeks but just in case!!!! spoilers are abound including some hidden cutscenes between cloud/aerith!!!!!! the desc features a lot of spoilers for og ff7/ac/cc, so be warned on that front too lol

oh man. this is really just. kinda shitty but i had to put smth out for my fave ff ship of all time..............i played it on pc actually a loooooong time ago. i must've been like. 10 or 11. it was still pretty big on dA lmao if y'all remember all the vincent propics...... that was around when i decided to play it. and..... i fell in love pretty instantly lmao

when aerith died in the original, i cried for a week. a WEEK. i remember distinctly bc it was during the last few weeks of summer and i kept going to the park to cry in peace where my parents wouldn't make fun of me LOL. i begged a friend to let me watch advent children at their house and cried even more. the love these two have for each other is so... pure. it's beautiful. she may have initially been drawn to him bc of zack, but it's so clear that she falls in love with CLOUD as CLOUD in the end, making it all the more painful. and this remake...
they really cranked that up to 11 i did not expect to cry even half as much as i did. or laugh as much as i did oh my gosh, they were so CUTE and then. a lot of the voice lines in this gmv are from the secret dream sequence you can get in chapter 14, and when i got it i bawled like a BABY.

"you can't fall in love with me" "don't i get a say in this?" is just so THEM, right down to their very core. the fact that this game hints that it's not following the original completely, the fact that things are playing out differently and maybe -- just MAYBE -- we get to save aerith this time around.... i can't even explain how much that impacted me while playing.

ff7 isn't ff7 without aerith dying, but at the same time, everyone already knows what happens. part of the reason that it was so impactful in the og was because nobody expected it. and now, how can they possible create that same impact? i want to hope -- even though it'll hurt twice as much if i'm wrong -- that subverting that expectation will create that impact.

ANYWAYS.................clerith means a lot to me. their love story turned tragedy hurts me so much, but i can't get enough of it. i remember when i was still a kid i went through every search result i could find on "how to revive aerith" "secret aerith revival" etc etc etc lmaoooo. i hope this time around, they get a happy ending.
