By 1982, Shalamar had been in existence for five years, after scoring with “Uptown Festival” in 1977.
Changes in group membership brought about the most successful lineup of Jody Watley, Howard Hewitt and Jeff Daniel by the time of “There It is”, which was a track on the album, “Friends”.
“Friends” went to #35 on the US album charts. It was the group’s sixth album to make the charts. On 45, “There It Is” didn’t chart in the US but it went to #5 in the UK, where it was one of Shalamar’s best chart showings. The “Friends” album also fared better in the UK, reaching #6.
