In this video, we'll see some classic footage of the Milwaukee Road 261 from trackside, in the cab, and even inside the Minneapolis Junction shop facilities while the locomotive was undergoing some required maintenance. Steve Sandberg, and others, are seen skillfully performing various tasks in preparation of returning the locomotive to service. We then head west to Willmar, Minnesota to capture footage from the 261's round trip over BNSF's Wayzata Subdivision (and a small portion of the Morris Subdivision) on June 2, 2001. We see the 261 being spun on the turntable at the Willmar Roundhouse before climbing aboard for a special cab ride on the eastbound trip back to the Twin Cities. The crew put on a great show during run-bys performed in Waverly, Minnesota, with our cameras trackside capturing the action. The video was narrated by well-known Rapid City sports broadcaster, Bob Laskowski. Thanks for watching!
