Essex coastal walk from Shoeburyness to Haven Point via Wakering Stairs and then along the banks of the River Roach. First we explore the fascinating site of a Victorian brickworks now buried beneath the coast with Professor Kate Spencer who explains how the secrets its past are being revealed due to coastal erosion. Then I walk around and through Ministry of Defence Shoeburyness to the coastal path that passes Wakering Stairs and the Broomway. This path takes me to Haven Point, then I walk along the banks of the River Roach to Wakering Boatyard and walk inland to Shoeburyness Station via Great Wakering.
