The BNSF Rapids Turn consistently has classic SD40-2, and other EMDs, for power. Operating five days a week, it operates between Superior, WI to Grand Rapids, MN and back. Thanks to some nice grades, and beautiful scenery along the way, this is a fun local to catch.
Beginning just outside of Superior, WI, we'll see two veteran SD40-2s lugging a long, and heavy train west. After this, the train is seen storming the stiff grade in run 8, and some nice horn action. On the way to Cloquet, the train crosses an impressive bridge at Wrenshall. After this, we'll see two different Rapids Turn's working Cloquet, and hear these classic EMDs singing away. Lastly, we get an aerial view as the train blasts out of town, and see it one last time in Brookston.
