National Railway Equipment had a facility in Silvis IL for decades, but that is a came to an end in 2021. In November of 2020, NRE announced that they will be closing this location, and consolidating operations at other facilities. The sprawling locomotive rebuild, repair, and scrapping location in Silvis is supposed to closed in March/early April. It is now owned by Railroading Heritage of the Midwest, and has a new breath of life!
