Tiny Directional Acoustic Loggers (TiDALs) are directional acoustic vector sensors that measure the particle velocity of sound. This allows researchers like Oceane Boulais seen during a dive with a logger to determine the direction, or bearing, of a sound source. Scripps Oceanography scientists are using these to locate whales through their songs.
