On July 28, 2024. Deputy’s from the Adams County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from a female who reported that her neighbor had just shot a gun towards her residence. Deputies arrived and made contact with the female who stated she wasn't sure whether it was a pellet gun or real gun. Deputies searched the area of her front yard and were not able to locate any damage. Deputies decided to make contact with the three men at the neighboring house. A man named Mark was identified by his licence and stated that he was the owner of the property. One of the men, Ronald said that he was lighting off fireworks, called Ladyfingers. He said that he had a few in his pocket and they made a banging type noise. Deputies searched the area and did not locate any residue from a firework or any type of packaging left over. When questioned, Ronald said that he had lit them all off and did not have any more. While speaking with Mark, he admitted to shooting his .22 caliber gun at mice in the yard and garage of his home. He showed deputies numerous mouse traps in the garage and stated that the mice cause a bad smell. A short time later, a deputy observed a spent shell casing and a rifle inside of the garage and asked for permission to examine it. Mark said that it would be fine to do so and later admitted to shooting his gun at mice in the yard and garage of his home. Deputies explained to Mark the Adams County ordinance for discharging a firearm in a subdivision and Mark stated he did not know of the ordinance and would not be firing his gun any further. They explained to him he would receive a citation in the mail for the admission of discharging his .22 rifle at mice. Mark was found guilty for Unlawful Shooting in Subdivision and ordered to pay a $162.70 fine.
