The Rapid City, Pierre, and Eastern's PRC Sub and Belle Fourche Turn, are a gold mine for a railfan, with some wonderful scenery along the way. Watch as heavy trains roar in run 8, kick up smoke, rock and role on bad track, and traverse beautiful landscapes. With jointed rails, beautiful open landscapes, stiff grades, and the classic SD40-2....the PRC Subdivision and Belle Turn are a MUST!
In the morning sun, things begin over in Quinn, SD. With the three SD40-2s breaking the morning silence, they crawl through town, and towards Wall. Once they finished working in town, we'll catch them again pulling through Wasta, and over the Cheyenne River. After pulling through the valley, we'll see the train again in Owanka, New Underwood, and finally Box Elder. Right after this, we'll have a quick chase of the Belle Turn, following it a bit back to Belle Fourche!
This is one of my favorite areas to spend time in, and enjoy being trackside. Its a COOL area of South Dakota.
