The official Scream 5 Twitter account has released another short teaser which reveals the upcoming movie's confirmed release date, as well as a possible new look for Ghostface.

Thanks to Paramount Pictures, and the official Scream twitter account, we now know that the upcoming fifth movie (sequel/reboot) in the Scream franchise, simply titled "Scream" will be releasing on January 14th 2022. Along with the date, the teaser that released showed a new image of the Ghostface mask, with a metallic looking finish to his mask. The unverified instagram account, still has no posts.
The film isn't set to begin filming until later this fall, but we already have David Arquette and Courteney Cox returning, as well as newcomers Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Neve Campbell, while having her name appear on the official production sheet, and hinting to the media that she very well could be returning, has yet to be officially announced herself. The rest of the casting is either presumably still underway, or has completed and we are just waiting for a casting or production update.
The intended release date misses the 25th anniversary of the original by a mere three weeks, something that feels like a huge missed opportunity here. Hopefully the announced date is just a placeholder, and Scream 5 will be moved up to December and be given a proper title.
