It's one humble social media manager's opinion that this independent, adventurous feline may be the most sand-sational sand cat. And while Newman may look like a house cat, he is actually a tiny desert assassin.
Native to one of the harshest climates on earth, sand cats are expertly adapted to their environment with oversized ears for detecting prey, extra furry paws to protect from scorching desert heat, and an ability to go weeks without water. Arabian sand cats are fearless hunters, even known to take on venomous snakes like vipers.
Sand cats typically sleep (a lot) in shallow burrows during daylight hours to avoid the intense heat. So when you see Newman being extra eepy during the day, he's saving his energy for what he does best, being a silent, stealthy, purr-fect nocturnal predator.
