A film about the iconic cable cars.
We see them in action, a little about how they work and go for a ride on one of them. We also visit the powerhouse - which is where the cables are powered, plus the cable car barn / depot / garage (etc), where they are maintained, and a visitor attraction / museum with displays that include much historical information, preserved cable cars and information on how the cable car system works.
Also included is a short sequence showing a street-based funicular in Lisbon, Portugal and the Great Orme Tramway in Wales, UK.
Filmed using S-VHS videotape and 35mm still image photographs in summer 1998
