Currently, more than 10 thousands of products with hundreds of different applications in the global market are made with nanomaterials.

Despite the advantageous outcomes of nanotechnology in several industrial sectors, the widespread use of nanomaterials has raised concerns regarding their safety among research and industry communities. Therefore, a case-by-case approach is necessary to identify and address the potential impacts on human and environmental health.

The SAbyNA platform integrates all currently available resources, such as methods, models, frameworks, data and tools, in order to provide safe-by-design solutions for nanomaterials and nano-enabled products to the end-user.

Safe-by-design solutions will be proposed based on the physico-chemical properties of each nanomaterial, such as the modification of its surface chemistry, and by providing safer solutions to minimize worker, consumer and environmental exposure.

Our goal is to reduce the nanomaterial or nano-enabled product hazard and improve the safety of nano-processes, while maintaining competitive performance and cost efficiency.

The SAbyNA guidance platform is set to become a global reference for companies interested in increasing the protection of human health and the environment while benefiting from the groundbreaking advances in nanotechnology.
