CUREX is an H2020 EU-funded project that develops a fully GDPR compliant novel, flexible, situational awareness-oriented platform, addressing comprehensively the protection of the confidentiality and integrity of health data.
CUREX implements cybersecurity and privacy risk assessments while optimal recommendations for cyber risk mitigations are offered in the form of a decision support tool. The platform offers a suite of tools establishing trust between healthcare organisations to address the necessity of data exchange and the elimination of cyber risks.
Each hospital that uses the CUREX platform publishes its cyber and privacy risk scores to a private blockchain becoming part of the wider network of CUREX hospitals. These scores are monitored using smart-contracts to assist organisations with the decision making process related to health data exchanges.
To understand how CUREX will impact modern healthcare, let's see a real life application scenario. Jose from Spain is spending a few days in Sweden for business. While he is enjoying dinner, he starts feeling unwell and decides to visit a local hospital. In order to provide his medical history to facilitate diagnosis, cross-border healthcare services require the exchange of Jose’s health data between his home-country and the Swedish hospital.
