To alleviate any concerns; YES, I have ALL 5 reels of this movie on 35. Not just reel 1. I’ll upload more of it later.
The print is also slightly open-matte; as you can see when I temporarily remove the flat (1.85:1) aperture plate, a bit more of the top and bottom that you wouldn’t find in a regular theatrical screening or a widescreen digital/DVD master of the film is revealed. I wouldn’t have expected it for a digitally-animated feature, to be honest, since most if not all CGI films are hard-matted to 1.85:1 in post-production, but this is an exception to the rule, I suppose. Plus, this movie was not finished on a digital intermediate, so do with that what you will.

It was shot on 16mm, so this is technically a blow-up from that, but man does it look purty.

AS A BONUS, I’ve also included here the opening to my 35mm print of Osmosis Jones, which I spliced the Carmike intro onto for the sake of smooth playback.
I can smell the buttered popcorn just by playing this. Maybe it was just something about Carmike, but they always had some of the best popcorn around. That’s for the most part held over to the AMC Classic theaters that have been taken over, but it’s another reason I miss Carmike.
