I made my epilogue for the Ship Showcase playlist, but I had one more in me. We'll call it a dual epilogue. The Ship Showcase playlist started with stage 7.2 and now it ends there too.
About this ship -
Pros
- The red weapon is very powerful and takes out enemies in just a few hits.
- The blue weapon is great too, firing at 45 degree angles out of the top and bottom of the Force.
- The yellow weapon is excellent and will fire a single beam out of the bottom of the Force, then drop artillery on passing enemies that go above and below the beam.
- The Scatter Bomb is great for taking out ground enemies, dealing a lot of damage.
Cons
- The red weapon is rather slow.
- The blue weapon does not have a forward firing beam, leaving you reliant on your machine guns.
- The Wave Cannon deals damage over time with its beam rather than burst damage. You have to stay on target to get the max out of it.
Further about this ship -
In R-Type Command the Grace Note and Shooting Star were sniper ships with super long range Wave Cannons. Paired with the Midnight Eye you could safely take out enemy ships without fear of their own Wave Cannon retaliation. The Grace Note in R-Type Final and its sequels is a very average ship, but because of my experience in R-Type Command, I absolutely love it. I even have a shirt with this ship on it that I ordered from Granzella's store.
About the stage -
By far the most dangerous part is the huge wave of Bydo System Alphas that come at you after you kill the Demonic Lovers. Since the Grace Note has a tightly X shaped firing pattern on its Force when detached, I threw it at them and focused on dodging the missiles. The Shadow Bits helped out with that immensely. I couldn't always pass that part - and I did die in my first attempt there, but I got it on my second.
Because the Force fires in the pattern that it does, throwing it into the Obsidian Pupil and hiding in the left corner of the screen didn't work because the Force's bullets wouldn't hit the boss. That's why I waited for a safe opening and flew in there myself and destroyed it. Risky, but I pulled it off multiple times in practice, and it looks cool overall to do it that way.
