This video is part of a much larger set that encompasses the Ship Showcase playlist. This is the forty eighth video that I recorded.
Ships in this series: Misty Lady, Misty Lady II
This ship has weapons that only fire downwards, with some adjustment to the angle based on horizontal movement. They're all based on weather too. The red weapon is a sun beam through a magnifying glass. The blue weapon is a rain storm. The yellow weapon is a lightning storm, and is my personal favorite. Missiles are Bydo Homing Missiles, as usual, good for all occasions. The Bits are Round Bits, and to my surprise, actually fire while the red weapon is equipped - I didn't know that until I was practicing with this ship. The Mist Force does not fire while detached, making it nearly useless when it is. The Wave Cannon is a three loop charge that fires an acid spray.
This stage is the Graveyard if Trans-Dimensional Fighters, and is filled with wreckage. There's a Bydo slug vacuum cleaner that sucks debris and spits it back out at you, so you have to be careful of that. It pulls you down too while it's vacuuming. There are red crystals on the vacuum slug, and if you don't destroy them, it will fire hexagonal shaped blasts much like the Happy Days' Force does. Speaking of Happy Days, you can see that the ship is attached to the front of the final vacuum cleaner, and will fire its Wave Cannon blast at enemies and debris in the stage, so you've got to watch out for it.
I don't like this final boss. To start, it vacuums debris towards it, and all of that debris comes from off screen behind you. You don't have much screen space either, because the boss takes up half of it. You have to destroy the vacuuming ports, that also fire exhaust at times, all the while dodging debris from behind. When you destroy the first part, the Force inside comes out. You have to throw your Force at it to start the final battle. Armed with only your ship's machine gun, you have to shoot it. The arms that extend from the Force are immune to your shots, and the Force gets bigger as time goes on. On Bydo and R-Typer you have to eventually dodge the arms so that they don't destroy you. On Normal, this was not really an issue.
I had nightmares about doing this stage, and practiced on R-Typer, but I decided against it because I kept getting killed in the middle of the stage by the Cancers that come in. Add to that that I'm using the Misty Lady II, and I decided to play on Normal. I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
Personal note - this stage has my favorite musical track in the base game. I love it so much that I made it the ring tone on my phone.
