Our first big event of the year!
After our day in Galesburg, we made our way to Silvis, Illinois for the Railroading Heritage Of Midwest America's annual Silvis Train Day and Car Show! This year was a pretty fun one compared to last year, with the arrival of the group's newest engine, Metra F40C #611, as well as a train show with various model train layouts, a steam traction engine was running around, Little Obie from Canadian National, two of the NRE owned engines were on display, NREX 8683 and NS 301, and of course, seeing the progress on Union Pacific 3985 and 5511. In addition we saw Santa Fe 537 partaking in throttle time moving up and down the yard and USAX 1678 pulling the coach train.
Overall it was a really fun day and great to be out at Silvis again, seeing some of the leftover locos from NRE of varying heritage, and learning some new stuff about what the group's plans are for the two big steamers, but I shouldn't say anymore for now. Regardless, enjoy the sights and sounds of the former Rock Island shops as various trains run around of all sizes as well as some unique cars and of course a Steam Traction Engine. Enjoy!
