The Centennial's big return.
After our day at the Illinois Railway Museum for showcase weekend, today we made our way out west towards the Quad Cities for a special event that was taking place along the Iowa Interstate's mainline, the RRHMA's Quad Cities Rocket powered by Union Pacific DDA40X #6936. This weekend was the unit's big (no pun intended) return to the high iron after a decade long absence and she did not disappoint.
In this video you'll see the 6936 traverse it's way through Colona to Bureau Junction, Illinois with the City Of Bureau Jct train for the second and final day of the Quad Cities Rocket. Now the EB chase seemed to be a bit hard as there were times you will see in the video where they were hauling and us getting to spots with little time to spare, but the WB run went a bit smoother, aside from them waiting at Colona for a BNSF train to pass. But nonetheless, it was amazing to see the 6936 run for the first time in my life and I want to thank the Railroading Heritage Of Midwest America and the Iowa Interstate Railroad for managing to make an excursion like this happen and I hope to see what other exciting excursions this group has to offer in future!
