The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat (formerly known as the Loyal Wingman project) is a stealth, multirole uncrewed uncrewed combat aerial vehicle developed by Boeing Australia for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). It is a historic milestone for Australia, marking the first military combat aircraft to be designed, engineered, and manufactured locally in over 50 years.
Designed as a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), the Ghost Bat utilizes artificial intelligence to fly alongside crewed fighter jets (such as the F-35A, F/A-18F, and E-7A Wedgetail) to act as a force multiplier, performing surveillance, electronic warfare, and tactical strike missions while absorbing operational risk.
The Modular Nose Advantage: One of the Ghost Bat's most unique design features is a completely swappable nose section. The entire front nose cone can be detached and replaced in the field within minutes, allowing operators to instantly reconfigure the drone from an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform into an Electronic Warfare (EW) suite or an offensive strike asset.
