The M1129 Mortar Carrier (MCV-B) is the heavy organic indirect fire support backbone of the U.S. Army's Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs). Based on the ubiquitous 8x8 wheeled Stryker chassis, it combines high operational mobility with rapid, hard-hitting fire capability.

The defining feature of the M1129 is its 120mm Recoiled Mortar System (RMS).
Shoot-from-Vehicle Capability: Large overhead roof hatches open symmetrically, allowing the crew to fire the 120mm system directly from inside the hull. This significantly minimizes their exposure to counter-battery fire or shrapnel.
Rapid Deployment: The M1129 can transition from traveling to firing in under a minute. It utilizes a computerized Fire Control System that automatically calculates ballistic solutions based on GPS position and target coordinates.
Secondary Weaponry: For versatility, the vehicle also carries a secondary 81mm or 60mm mortar that can be dismounted and operated on the ground if the tactical situation requires it.
Tactical Role: Unlike traditional towed artillery, the M1129 moves at the exact same pace as the mechanized infantry units it supports, providing immediate high-angle fires to suppress enemy positions, clear obstacles, or screen movements with smoke.
