Shoulder pain when pressing?

It’s usually not the lift — it’s the lack of variation.

Flat bench over and over beats up the same joint angles, the same tissues, the same weak points. If your shoulders are taking the hit, you need to change the stress — not stop training.

Switch to decline pressing to reduce shoulder strain and shift more load to the triceps and lower pecs. Rotate your angles regularly. Incline, flat, decline — each one distributes stress differently and keeps you progressing without breaking down.

Train around pain. Don’t feed it.

At Wenning Strength, we build resilient lifters by adjusting the movement — not avoiding it.
