Feet up narrow grip bench is one of the most underrated ways to build real pressing power.
By taking the feet out, you eliminate leg drive and force the upper body to do the work—no cheating, no energy leaks. A narrower grip shifts more demand to the triceps, which are the primary drivers of lockout strength. At the same time, you’re forced to stabilize through the upper back and core, building better control of the bar path and improving pressing efficiency.
This variation also reduces excessive arch and lumbar extension, making it a great tool for developing raw pressing strength without relying on setup advantages. If you can press big weight here, your competition bench goes up.
Use it to:
• Build triceps-driven lockout power
• Improve bar control and stability
• Expose weak points in your press
• Develop strength that actually transfers
Take the shortcuts out—build the press from the top down.
