A tribute to this under-rated screen team, who appeared in five films together in the 1930s while they were both under contract to MGM. Robert Montgomery (May 21, 1904 - September 27, 1981) and Madge Evans (July 1, 1909 - April 26, 1981) became life-long friends and passed away within five months of each other. Their chemistry was undeniable! I used Dinah Washington's rendition of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" (recorded in 1955).

A tribute to Alice Faye (May 5, 1915 – May 9, 1998) and her most frequent male co-star, Don Ameche (May 31, 1908 – December 6, 1993). They were an adorable screen team (and as both were good singers, they were an ideal teaming for musicals at their home studio, 20th Century Fox). In all, they appeared in six films together, all of which have had official DVD releases. Don said in later years that Alice was his favorite leading lady. Alice recorded the song, Its Swell Of You in 1937.

The lovely and talented Madge Evans (July 1, 1909 - April 26, 1981) was a popular leading lady at MGM in the 1930s (she began her career in silent films as a child actress, then billed as Baby Madge). She appeared alongside such notable talents as Marie Dressler, John Barrymore, Jean Harlow, Al Jolson, Clark Gable, James Cagney, Ramon Novarro, Helen Hayes, Robert Montgomery, Robert Young, and Bing Crosby, just to name a few. She retired from the screen in 1938 but made television guest appearances in the 1950s. I always enjoy watching her; she projected warmth and sincerity, and she established great chemistry with her leading men. The song used in the video is What Is This Thing Called Love?, performed by the Leo Reiman Orchestra and Bubber Miley, recorded in 1930. Enjoy!
